Café Cup Huntington Beach: A Local Breakfast Spot Worth Knowing

One of my favorite things about living in Huntington Beach is having those neighborhood spots that you don't necessarily find because you're searching for the trendiest brunch in Orange County.

You find them because locals know them.

Cafe Cup on Warner Avenue is one of those places.

Located near the corner of Warner and Springdale, Café Cup has been serving breakfast and lunch in Huntington Beach since 2011. It's the sister restaurant to the Coffee Cup Cafe in Long Beach, and if you're looking for a casual Huntington Beach breakfast away from the crowds Downtown, this is a great one to have on your list.

What to Order at Café Cup

The breakfast menu here is BIG, so this is not one of those places where you're choosing between avocado toast and three other things.

You've got pancakes, French toast, omelettes, scrambles, breakfast burritos, Benedicts and plenty of lighter options too. And breakfast is served throughout the day.

If you're in the mood for something sweet, the Stuffed French Toast immediately caught my attention. It's made with thick French toast stuffed with cream cheese and finished with butter and cinnamon sugar.

Their pancake menu includes classic buttermilk along with flavors like blueberry, chocolate chip, banana nut, multigrain and peanut butter.

And here's one to remember:

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes on Fridays.

They're a Friday special, which feels like a pretty good excuse to start the weekend early.

If You're Team Savory...

Café Cup has plenty for you too.

One of their popular dishes is the Chicken Chile Verde Omelette, filled with chicken chile verde and cheese and topped with even more verde.

There's also an ABC Omelette with avocado, bacon and cheese, a Carnitas Omelette, Veggie Omelette, and even a Mashed Potato Omelette with bacon, cheddar, green onion and sour cream.

Their scramble menu is just as extensive. The Springdale Scramble is loaded with ham, bacon, sausage, bell peppers, tomato, onion, mushrooms and cheese, then topped with avocado.

Basically, come hungry.

More Than Your Typical Breakfast Menu

One thing I like about Café Cup is the variety.

If you don't want traditional pancakes-and-eggs breakfast, there are dishes like the Baja Burrito, breakfast quesadilla, huevos rancheros, chorizo Benedict and Enchilada Eggs.

And if you're meeting someone who wants lunch while you're still firmly committed to breakfast, you're both covered—Café Cup serves both breakfast and lunch throughout the day.

That's my kind of compromise.

Bring cash! Café Cup is cash only.

They're located at 5930 Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach, near Warner and Springdale. Current posted hours are 7 a.m.–2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Friday.
