Living in Huntington Harbour: Neighborhood Guide

Huntington Harbour is the part of Huntington Beach that surprises people. You expect surf culture and you find a boating town: 860 acres of channels, five islands, and a rhythm set by tides and Duffy boats rather than Main Street.

The five islands

Trinidad, Humboldt, Davenport, Gilbert and Admiralty each have their own character. Admiralty and Humboldt front the wider main channels, which means bigger boats and bigger view corridors. Davenport is quieter and tucked in. Trinidad has some of the most consistently remodeled housing stock in the Harbour.

Interior (non-waterfront) streets in the Harbour are worth a serious look. You give up the dock but keep the neighborhood, the schools and the walkability — often for well under half the waterfront price.

What homes cost

Waterfront homes with a dock generally run from the high $2Ms into the $6M+ range depending on channel width, dock size and whether the property has been rebuilt. Interior single-family homes typically trade between $1.4M and $2.3M. Townhomes and condos near Peter's Landing start meaningfully lower.

What actually moves the price

• Dock capacity. A 30-foot slip and a 55-foot slip are different properties.
• Channel position. Main channel view versus a narrow interior finger.
• Sun exposure. South-facing rear yards command a premium here for a reason.
• Bulkhead condition. Ask early. It's the single most expensive surprise in the Harbour.

Daily life

Mornings are quiet. Kids paddleboard to friends' houses in summer. The December Boat Parade of Lights is a real neighborhood event, not a tourist product — people decorate their docks for weeks. You're five minutes from Sunset Beach, ten from Downtown, and roughly forty from LAX without traffic.

Schools

Most of the Harbour feeds Harbour View Elementary and Marina High School, both of which are consistent draws for relocating families. Verify boundaries by address before you write an offer; they do split in places.
